The first person of color to be featured in the lead role of the Star Wars movie, Kelly Marie Tran, has been in the spotlight for her upcoming film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but that’s not all that’s behind her halos on her head. Also, she’s shed weight.

You heard it, you did! The actress was all fat during the first episode of The Last Jedi. In contrast, when she went to her blue carpet for The Rise of Skywalker premiere, she was slim with a slim cheek and her figure slim!

Has Kelly Marie Tran Lost Weight?

It’s been two months since Kelly Marie Tran got emotional in the L.A. premiere of the 8th film in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It was a very emotional time for Kelly when she reunited the producer’s Ram Bergman and her co-star Janina Gavankar.

Two years after, Kelly was as emotional as she was in her first appearance for The Last Jedi. However, there was something different this time, and she was wearing a slimmer look! On December 16, 2019, the thirty-year-old actress showed in the film’s premiere in L.A., California. She also presented us with her stunning look in London’s Leicester Square on December 18, December 18, 2019 Wednesday.

Kelly Marie Tran Weight Loss: Did the Actress Lose Some Pounds?

The weight reduction of Kelly Marie Tran is turning into the talk of the town in the upcoming ‘Star The Force Awakens: The Rise of Skywalker’ is nearing its release. Tran, famous for her cheeky cheeks and optimistic attitude to everything, provided a refreshing distractor in The Last Jedi. Still, the images that we’ve seen on the red carpet in the premiere of the ninth installment of the Skywalker, the saga’s ninth film, show the actress dropping several pounds.

The cheeks appear a bit less prominent and, from the first image of 2017 until now, there is a slight change in the look of the actress. We love the way the actress appears at the moment; she appears to be content and happy and isn’t worried much about the trolls. Two decades of feeling angry fans left her with enough scar tissue that she isn’t worried about the same thing once more.

Online Harassment in Star Wars’ Star

In a contributing piece for The New York Times in August 2018, Trans opened up about online harassment after being given a lead part in the Star Wars movie.

“Their words seemed to confirm what growing up as a woman, and a person of color already taught me: that I belonged in margins and spaces, valid only as a minor character in their lives and stories,” she wrote.

Also, she related those “hateful” words to the feeling she had of ‘fear’ at the age of nine and quit using Vietnamese because she was fed up with being snubbed by the other youngsters.

In sharing her memories, she stated that she was constantly considered distinct and not part of the society she was in.

“And that feeling, I realize now, was, and is, shame, a shame for the things that made me different, a shame for the culture from which I came from,” she added. “And to me, the most disappointing thing was that I felt it at all.”

Trans even began to blame herself, thinking that perhaps she had flaws. “I thought, ‘Oh, maybe if I was thinner or ‘Maybe if I grow out my hair and, worst of all, ‘Maybe if I wasn’t Asian.'”

Kelly was wearing the black off-shoulder dress with smocked smoke in L.A. and London; she was wearing an elegant red dress paired with diamante earrings in London.

So you can conclude that the question above is yes, she’s lost weight! However, that’s not all! The actress hasn’t been forthcoming about her loss of weight to the general public. Perhaps it’s because she was forced to remove all of her Facebook accounts due to harassment online.

Kelly Marie Tran Bullying by Vitriolic Fans

Following the release of the film, there was a huge difference between fans who loved the movie and those who resented it. The most important reason for the gap was how the beloved character ‘Luke Skywalker’ was depicted. However, some were unable to comprehend the reason for the casino planet’s secondary quest in the film’s final scene.

There were a few issues with the casino in the film. First, the entire thing could have been cut, and it wouldn’t make any difference. Second, there was no effect on the film’s story since the information they sought to retrieve on the planet was not worth it in the end. Therefore, we can recognize the issues regarding the quest. However, the truth is that it was the decision of the people who created the film to incorporate the scenes, not the actors.

Online Harassment Led Kelly Marie Tran Off Social Media

As previously mentioned, Kelly Marie Tran, who plays Rose Tico in The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, was banned from social media by vitriol fans. This happened just after the release of the eighth film of Star Wars.

Tran was a happy woman doing her usual routine; however, she was shocked when offered the chance to be one of the most prominent characters from the renowned film brand Star Wars. She jumped at the chance to play Rose Tico, a rebel mechanic and hero of the Resistance.

The Last Jedi was released on December 15, 2017, and the film also made more than $1.321 billion, which is more than its budget of between $200 and $317 million. However, the film was not enough for the audience; they weren’t convinced that the movie was to be as good as the previous movies in the trilogy. They began to harass actors, directors, and the producers of the show.

Because Kelly was a relatively new model and a person of color, people hurled their hatred at her. They made it difficult for Kelly that she had to leave social media, deleting all her posts. Today her Instagram account and other socials do not have any content.

Her Family and Heritage

Tran, born on January 17, 1989, in San Diego, California, has Asian roots because both of her parents came from Vietnam and came into the U.S. after the Vietnam War.

According to her, her mother’s father was homeless and lived in street corners of Vietnam as a young child. However, after moving to the USA and working in Burger King, her mother worked in funeral homes to help support the family.

“Growing as a child, I’ve always felt like I came from two distinct worlds. My birthplace was in the U.S., but my parents were born in Vietnam and have raised my sisters by the same methods used by parents in Vietnamese culture and me. Vietnamese culture. Much of my character is due to what my parents went through when they lived in America. A lot of me is due to the struggles my parents fought to overcome to give me the privilege of living my wish,” she wrote in an unpublished Instagram post.

Alt-Right Group Says It Drove Out Kelly from Socials

Following many criticisms about her character and everything between her looks, size, weight, and appearance to her ethnicity, Kelly deleted all of her social media posts and removed herself from her social media accounts. Then, to everyone’s delight, an alt-right group on Facebook was discovered, saying that they had removed Kelly, the Asian star, from her social media.

On June 8, the group wrote:

Together with several others (some of who I have inspired), I removed Kelly Marie Tran from Instagram. It was bloody wonderful!

The group believes that the Star Wars movie has lost its appeal by gradually casting actors with diverse backgrounds. The group believes that the movie’s diversity in recent years is made compulsory for them.

Reintroduce that Straight White Male Hero that corrupt corporations like Disney don’t make.

The post concludes with a couple of hashtags, including Let Us Be Legends, Give Us Legends, No More Forcing Diversity, and down with Disney. This is the article!
